I don't think it will happen. It will cost MS a fortune. MS has never been in debt and it would have to be if they acquired Yahoo.

Well Yes and No
No, I don't think they would have a brand identity problem, I am thinking it would work the way that Google-YouTube or the Yahoo-Flickr aqcuisitions worked; slowly merging, adopting the better features and services from each company. Yes it would be a Microsoft by Yahoo type of thing.... I would think. Honestly, I'm curious to know what will happen. |

The thing is Yahoo.com is the most visited site on the internet, even if the top level engineers leave Microsoft, the .com domain acquisition in itself would be a grand jewel. Why? MS would be replicating content. They have the #5 site w/ MSN. MS biggest problem is competing w/ itself and they would be doing it again. They have MSN and Yahoo. If they keep both they have to pay for double the costs of running and maintaining the sites. They will have a brand-identiy problem. I mean, is it going to be Yahoo-by Microsoft, and oh hey, check out MSN for good stuff too? |

Fascinating... People on the inter webs are saying that if Microsoft does purchase Yahoo most of the top engineers(developers) will leave. So you have a valid point. The thing is Yahoo.com is the most visited site on the internet, even if the top level engineers leave Microsoft, the .com domain acquisition in itself would be a grand jewel. Not to mention eliminating one of the top internet search players.

I don't have an iPhone, I have an HTC Touch. I am leaving it the same. I could put a custom ROM on it but I'm not.
I would not Jailbreak the iPhone. What do you get out of it? If Apple never released an SDK then I would JB it, but since they did, just do it the official way. You will have a better experience in the long run. |

If MS does a hostile overtake, its bad news for MS. MS would benefit more from the people, the engineers. Not the products. They already have their foot in the market for almost everything that Yahoo does. Disgruntled talented engineers working for you isn't in MS best interst. Besides, consumers get nothing out of the deal.
